SITA x Maglian: Tech spirIT of Divčibare – A Discussion on Crisis Management and Business Sustainability in the IT Sector

In collaboration with Maglian Campus, the Serbian IT Association (SITA) organized the event SITA x Maglian: Tech spirIT of Divčibare, which brought together leading figures from the domestic IT industry for a discussion on crisis management and business sustainability.

While the IT sector has largely recovered from the challenges of the past years—such as project cancellations, client losses, and reduced employment—the new risks arise from global economic shifts and political turmoil. Despite this, many IT companies in Serbia still fail to adequately focus on strategic risk management, as highlighted by the panelists.

Panel Discussion: Crisis Management in IT

The panel discussion, titled “Crisis Management in IT”, was moderated by Aleksandar Marković, the owner of Maglian Campus, and featured the following participants:

  • Ivan Tucaković (Accenture Serbia)

  • Bojan Zrnić (IT Engine)

  • Valerij Dutčak (Sperasoft Serbia)

Ivan Tucaković, Executive Director of Accenture Serbia

“If you’re a small company, it’s difficult to cover all potential scenarios. The best option is to have cash in the bank, but even large corporations often don’t have that luxury. Companies in Serbia need to focus more on risk management. We have brilliant engineers and adaptability, but at a higher level of development, it’s crucial to professionalize our approaches and work seriously on risk strategies.”

Bojan Zrnić, Founder and CEO of IT Engine

“Large companies reduce budgets in a crisis, while smaller firms can adapt more quickly, but they also find themselves in trouble more easily. Experience from previous crises has taught many domestic IT companies how important it is to have backup plans.”

Valerij Dutčak, Executive Director of Sperasoft Serbia

“Operational stability means the company functions smoothly in daily operations, while business continuity implies the ability to survive unexpected crises. Many companies don’t think about potential risks until they occur, which is one of the biggest obstacles in crisis management.”

Messages from the Serbian IT Association

In addition to the panel discussion, the participants heard from representatives of SITA:

Marko Vučetić, Director of the Serbian IT Association

“The IT industry in Serbia has great potential, but also many challenges. We can only successfully address these challenges through collective action. Events like this enable open dialogue between companies, the exchange of knowledge, and the creation of strategies for the long-term development of the IT sector.”

Marina Varzar, Director of DataArt and Board Member of SITA

“The IT industry in Serbia can only progress if we work together. SITA brings together companies that want to actively participate in the development of the sector and in creating a better business environment.”
