Governing Board Elected at the Serbian IT Association (SITA)

SITA Governing Board Formed

At the beginning of 2024, the Serbian IT Association (SITA) was established, now bringing together more than 15 member organizations from the information technology sector. Many more IT companies from Serbia are expected to join in the near future.

As a non-profit organization, SITA mission is to foster a favorable business environment for IT companies, improve regulatory frameworks, support the development of local talent, and promote Serbia as a leader in the IT industry.

SITE is committed to advocating for a better legal framework that enables the growth of IT companies, provides business-friendly conditions, and enhances the competitiveness of the Serbian IT sector on the global stage.

Through various initiatives and collaborative activities, SITE aims to:

  • support the development of local IT talent,
  • help address key challenges such as talent retention and upskilling,
  • increase foreign investment in Serbia.

“It is a great honor to be elected as the Chair of the Governing Board of the Serbian IT Association. This role carries great responsibility, but also a unique opportunity to work with the team, our members, and the wider community to transform the Serbian IT sector into an even stronger pillar of the economy and exports.

We want to be the voice of the industry before key institutions and work together to create a business environment that positions Serbia as one of the most attractive destinations for global IT companies.

I believe our joint initiatives will contribute not only to the development of the industry, but also to Serbia’s overall economic growth,”

Insights from the Board

Among the newly elected board members is Marina Varzar, Director at DataArt, who highlights the global competitiveness of Serbian talent and the importance of continued investment in their development.

“Currently, Serbia has around 100,000 ICT professionals, with approximately 6,000 new graduates entering the labor market each year. Companies like DataArt work closely with educational institutions to ensure a steady flow of skilled professionals.

Serbian talent is highly competitive on the global level, but continuous investments in education, training, and professional development are crucial to maintain this momentum. Another key factor is the set of financial incentives introduced by the government a few years ago. These tax benefits make Serbia financially attractive and globally competitive.

The business sector and the government must work together to further develop these programs, and we believe that SITE can play an important role in supporting this progress,”

New Executive Director Appointed

At the previous General Assembly, Marko Vučetić was elected as the Executive Director of the Serbian IT Association (SITE), and will lead the organization in achieving its core objectives.

“In the coming months, we will focus on implementing concrete initiatives such as advocating for tax incentives for IT companies, increasing Serbia’s international visibility on the global tech map, and strengthening collaboration with educational institutions to train future IT professionals.

We will place special emphasis on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises by connecting them with global partners and opening up opportunities for entry into international markets.

We are also working on expanding the organization, and I invite all interested IT companies to reach out and join us in shaping the future of the local IT industry,”
